FAQ
13 straight answers before you apply
Grouped by where you are: thinking about applying, working out how to pay, on the course, or after demo day.
Admissions
Do I need to know how to code already?
No, but you need to have tried. Before your interview we send a free 10-hour prep pack; finishing it is the only entry requirement. Most of our students have never been paid to write code.
How does the application work?
A 20-minute call, a short take-home challenge from the prep pack, then a 40-minute interview with a mentor. You hear back within three working days of the interview.
Is there an age limit?
You must be 18 or over on the start date. Our oldest graduate so far was 61.
What computer do I need?
Any laptop from the last five years with 8 GB of memory runs everything we teach. If you do not have one, we lend a refurbished laptop for the length of the course.
Funding
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. A £500 deposit holds your seat, then the balance is split into up to 10 interest-free monthly payments starting on your first day.
Is there funded or discounted tuition?
Some places are funded through [funding scheme] for eligible UK residents, and we offer two half-fee scholarships each cohort. Ask on your first call and we will check your eligibility before you pay anything.
What if I have to leave the course?
Leave in the first two weeks and we refund everything except the deposit. After that you pay only for the weeks you attended, and you can rejoin a later cohort free within 12 months.
During the course
How many hours a week is it really?
Full-time is about 40 hours a week, 9:30 to 5:30 on weekdays plus some evening work. Part-time is about 20 hours: two evenings, Saturday morning and self-study.
What is the difference between in person and live online?
Same timetable, same mentors, same projects. Online students join the room on a shared video call and pair with in-person students every week.
What happens if I fall behind?
Every checkpoint has a catch-up slot the following week. If you need more than that, you can drop into the next cohort at the same point at no cost.
After you graduate
What does career support include?
A named careers coach for 12 months: CV and portfolio reviews, mock technical interviews, introductions to our hiring partners and help with negotiating an offer.
Do you guarantee a job?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. We publish how many graduates are hired and how we count them on the outcomes page, including the ones who are not.
Will I get a certificate?
You receive a Brackwell certificate of completion listing every project you built. Our course is assessed by [awarding body], and the certificate carries their reference number.
Still have a question?
Admissions answer within one working day, usually the same afternoon.
